Dear SFUSD Community,

SFUSD schools, central offices and after school programs will be closed tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 16, due to ongoing concerns regarding air quality both inside and outside of schools and offices.

As you know, the air quality in the Bay Area has remained at red (unhealthy) throughout the week. Some staff and students have reported that the ongoing conditions have also contributed to poor air quality indoors.

We understand that closing schools places a burden on some of our families, and we want you to know that we have given this decision careful consideration.

All school sites will be closed for Thanksgiving Break and will reopen on Monday, Nov. 26. Central offices will be open next week Monday, Nov. 19 through Wednesday, Nov. 21.

Please vote for two new members of the School Site Council (SSC), the body which collaborates to develop and implement Harvey Milk Civil Rights Academy’s Academic Plan and budget. The term of office is 2018-2020. You may only submit ONE ballot per parent/guardian. Please return this printable ballot to your classroom teacher or the office or submit this online ballot by Friday, November 9, 2018. Thank you!

The School Site Council is a critical part of our school. Please consider nominating yourself to be part of the Council this year. The elected members represent parents, students, community members, and school staff in school governance. The SSC is responsible for the development of the Academic Plan, and overall school site budget.

First Day of School is August 20th!
School Day start at 9:30am with Morning Circle on the upper yard.

After morning circle, all parents/caregivers are invited to Principle Chat with Mr Machado in the  cafeteria. There will be coffee, and a chance to chat with Mr Machado and other parents/caregivers. We hope to see you there!

Our school day is 9:30am – 3:35pm, with Early Dismissals taking
place at 2:45pm EVERY Monday.

Wednesday June 6 is the last day of school. School ends at 12:40pm and YMCA after-care will end at 5pm.

It’s almost time to get your Summer Read on! Check out the SFUSD Summer Reading List—  it’s pre-sorted by grade. In addition, take a look at San Francisco Public Libraries’ Summer Stride program. Kids who read all summer long can earn prizes and have fun along the way.
