We want Harvey Milk staff, students, and their families to feel comfortable and empowered to discuss diversity and inclusion.

*For all the people overwhelmed by racial injustice and white supremacy in America, who’ve taken some action and know they can do more, but don’t always know what to do or how to do it, or are afraid of getting it wrong or not knowing enough and are left wondering what do I doooo…
Read the assigned chapters (and do the work) ahead of time and come to the meetings prepared for facilitated discussion. Some collaborative work will also be built into the meeting time.
All meetings are virtual, via Google Meet (link will be emailed)

DEIC Screening
What the Constitution Means to Me
Please join the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee for a screening of Heidi Schrek’s play What the Constitution Means to Me. The play breathes new life into our Constitution and imagines how it will shape the next generation of Americans. HMCRA families who prefer to participate virtually can join an Amazon Prime Video watch party at the same time. The film runs 1 hour 44 minutes and is rated for ages 16+.

March Against Profiling
On Saturday 5/22/21, The S.F. chapter of the NAACP continued the fight against profiling at the Church Street.
Members of the HMCRA sent in this report from the rally :
“We were there and as well as some heavy hitters in the community— Rev. Amos Brown and other reps from the NAACP, school board, district, supes (Mendleman was a no show) and a New Orleans band! Not to mention our fearless leader, principal Stewart, his two sons, the head of naacp youth.
Even the president of Nor cal Safeway showed up and we got an official APOLOGY!!!
We spoke up and they heard us! Yay!!”
Solidarity March
We gathered at 19th and Collingwood at 1:15pm on May 5th, 2021 and marched together against racism, discrimination, and harmful biases.
